Creating a Google Developer Account

To create your Google Developer account, follow these steps:

Note: You do not need to do this if you are using the Unbranded version through our Finalweb Mobile App.

  1. First, if you didn't already do this in the Apple Developer process, obtain your D-U-N-S number:

This is a unnique number provided by Dun & Bradstreet and is used to verify your organization's legal status. You may already have a D-U-N-S number, and you can check using the DUNS Number Lookup tool.

If you don't have a D-U-N-S number, you can obtain a D-U-N-S number here. You may need some documentation to confirm your organization's identity. As you follow the steps, the platform will tell you what documentation you need to complete the process.

  2. Sign up for the Google Developer account.

    • The best way to do this is to open an in-private or incognito window in your browser. This will avoid any confusion with an active Google account in your browser. In Chrome, for example, you can right-click on the Chrome icon and select the option to open an incognito window.
    • Next go to the Google Play Console. Then click the "Go To Play Console" button to the upper-right corner of the screen.
    • Log in to your Google account. If you don't have one, you can choose the Create Account option at the bottom of the screen.
    • After you have logged in, if 2-step verification is not enabled for the account, you will be prompted to enable it. Follow the on-screen prompts to do so.
    • Once this is done, go back to the browser tab where you have the Google Play Console open, and refresh the page.
    • Under "An Organization," click "Get started."
    • Google will walk you through several pages of information. Follow the instructions and provide the requested information to continue. You may need to confirm information for your organization, as well as for the account administrator.
    • Choose the option titled Select Payment Profile, and complete the requested steps.
    • Agree to the terms and conditions, and then pay the $25 one-time setup fee.

  3. Invite Finalweb to your developer account:

    • Go to the Google Play Console and choose Users and Permissions from the left side menu.
    • Click "Invite New Users."
    • For the email address enter the following: dev@finalweb.com
    • Under the Permissions section, go to the Account Permissions tab and check the Admin box.
    • Click Invite User at the bottom of the page, and confirm it when prompted.

Please note that Google will need to verify your Developer Account before you can publish to their app store. In your Google Play Console’s home page, there will be a set of instructions for providing the required documentation to do this.

  4. Lastly you'll need to create an API key. There are several steps, but the process is quick:

    • Open an incognito or in-private browser window and go to https://console.cloud.google.com
    • You will be automatically redirected to a My First Project screen. Click on the My First Project drop-down menu in the top-left corner of the screen.
    • In the screen that opens, in the upper-right corner, click New Project. Name your project Finalweb.
    • In the search bar in the top-center of your screen, type “Service Accounts” and select the corresponding search result.
    • On the resulting page, click the +Create Service Account button in the top-left.
    • On the next page, enter Finalweb into the Service Account Name field, then choose "Create and Continue."
    • Click the Select a Role box. In the filter field enter "service account admin" (without the quotes) and scroll down the list until you see "Service account admin." Select this option, then click "Continue."
    • In the User Role field, enter the following: dev@finalweb.com
    • Select this email in the drop-down list and click Done on the right.
    • You’ll be redirected to a page with a table listing your service accounts. Under the Actions column at the far right of this table, click the three black dots, and then select Manage Keys.
    • Select Add Key, and then Create New Key. Choose JSON as the file type, and click Create. This will download a file to your local drive, so remember where it is stored for later.
    • Return to the previous screen. Next to the highlighted link in the Email column, click on the icon that looks like a square to copy the email to your clipboard. We’ll come back to this tab, so leave it open.
    • Go to play.google.com/console. In the sidebar, select Users and Permissions, then click on the Invite New Users option.
    • Paste the email address you just copied into the Email Address box. Under the Permissions section, click the Account Permissions tab and check the Admin checkbox. Select Invite User, then click Send Invite.
    • In the Service Accounts tab you left open, click on the three-line menu in the upper-left, then select APIs & Services, followed by Enabled APIs & Services.
    • Scroll to the section entitled Mobile and click on Google Play Android Developer API. Then click the Enable button.
    • Go back to your Finalweb App Management Console and click the Publish Your App button. When prompted for the Google API JSON file, select the file you previously downloaded.

Once our staff has received your invite, we will work to submit your app as quickly as possible to the Google Play Store. It can take several days (usually about a week) for the process to be approved, and we will update you once your app is ready.
