Creating a Google Developer Account
To create your Google Developer account, follow these steps:
Note: You do not need to do this if you are using the Unbranded version through our Finalweb Mobile App.
- First, if you didn't already do this in the Apple Developer process, get your D-U-N-S number:
This is a unnique number provided by Dun & Bradstreet and is used to verify your organization's legal status. You may already have a D-U-N-S number, and you can check using the DUNS Number Lookup tool.
If you don't have a D-U-N-S number, you can obtain a D-U-N-S number here. Note that you may need some documentation to confirm your organization's identity. As you walk through the process you will be informed as to what you need.
- Sign up for the Google Developer account.
- The best way to do this is to open an in-private or incognito window. This will avoid any confusion with an active Google account in your browser. In Chrome for example, you can right-click on the Chrome icon and select the option to open an incognito window.
- Next go to the Google Play Console. Then click the "Go To Play Console" button to the upper-right.
- Login to your Google account. If you don't have one, you can choose the "Create Account" option at the bottom.
- After you have logged in, if 2-step verification is not enabled for the account, you will be prompted to enable it. Follow the on-screen prompts to do so.
- Once this is done, go back to the browser tab where you have the "Play Console" open and refresh the page.
- Under "An Organization," click "Get started."
- Google will walk you through several pages of information. Follow the instructions and provide the necessary/requested information to continue. You may need to confirm information for your organization as well as you personally as the account administrator.
- Choose the option to "Select Payment Profile" and complete the requested steps.
- Agree to the terms and conditions, and then pay the $25 one-time setup fee.
- Invite Finalweb to your developer account:
- Go to the Google Play Console and choose Users and Permissions from the left side menu.
- Click "Invite New Users."
- For the email address enter dev@finalweb.com
- In the Account Permissions tab, be sure to check the "Admin" box.
- Click "Invite User" at the bottom of the page, and confirm it on the following prompt.
- Lastly you'll need to create an API key. There are a lot of steps but the process is quick:
- First open an incognito or in-private browser window and go to https://console.cloud.google.com
- Click "Select a Project"
- Click on "No Organization," and then you should see your organization's name. Select it.
- At the upper-right, click "New Project." Name your project Finalweb.
- From the left menu click "Service Accounts," and then choose "+Create Service Account" at the top of the following screen.
- On the next page, enter Finalweb into the Service Account Name field, then choose "Create and Continue."
- Click the Select a Role box. In the filter field enter "service account admin" (without the quotes) and scroll down the list until you see "Service account admin." Select this option, then click "Continue."
- Enter dev@finalweb.com in the User Role field. Select this email in the dropdown list and click "done" on the right.
- Next, under the Actions column click the three black dots and then "Manage Keys."
- Select Add Key > Create New Key. Choose JSON as the file type and click "Create." This will download a file to your local drive, so remember where it is stored for later.
- Next to the highlighted link in the Email column you should see a "Copy to Clipboard" icon that looks like two squares. Click this link.
- Go to play.google.com/console. Click "Users and Access" and then "Invite User."
- Paste the email address you just copied into the Email Address box. Under Account Permissions check the "Admin" box. Then choose Invite User > Send Invite.
- You should still have a browser tab open for Service Accounts. On this tab, click the three-line menu in the upper-left, then "API's & Services." > "Enabled API's & Services"
- Scroll to the section entitled "Mobile" and click "Google Play Android Developer API." Then choose "Enable."
- Come bac to your Finalweb App Management Console and choose the option to publish your app. When prompted for the Google API JSON file, select the file you downloaded above and upload it to the server.
Once our staff has received your invite, we will work to submit your app as quickly as possible to the Google Play Store. It can take several days (usually about a week) for the process to be approved, and we will update you once your app is ready.
