The Domain Names tool allows you to set up domain names, or web addresses, to point to your site/sub-sites. To create one, click the plus icon to the lower right.
From here, and depending on your web package, you can register a new domain name, transfer an existing name, use an external name, or create a sub-domain. (A sub-domain is based off of a regular domain name. For instance, if you own mychurch123.com, you might create a subdomain for school.mychurch123.com to point to a school sub-site).
Select the option you would like to use and type the domain name. If you are transferring a domain, you will need to type in the EPP code, or transfer code, at this point. Then click “Next Step.”
Once the domain name is added, there are two ways to get it to point to your website:
If this is a new domain that you are registering through our system, or if you chose to transfer the domain into our system, this will happen automatically.
For an external domain, you can create the DNS records at your current domain name provider (registrar) to point to your new website. Your registrar should be able to help you with this. When you login to your registrar’s system, or talk to their support, you’ll want to:
Once you have created these two DNS records, edit your domain name and click the option to “Verify” the domain. Once it is verified, it should start working within 24 hours.
